Norway Is Not Just For Cruise Ships

A trip to Norway is the perfect holiday for adventurous explorers who love outdoor activities. Travelers here can enjoy hiking, climbing, and kayaking. There are more than 1,000 fjords along the extensive Norwegian coastline, and cruise ships view only 10 of them. With so much rugged landscape, no one truly knows how long the coastline is! This stunning scenery is perfect for a guided kayak tour. Get off the beaten path with a stay in a “rorbus,” one of the traditional fishermen's lodges. Seafood specialties are typical in Norway, where fishing is a big part of the culture. Look for local dishes like smoked salmon, pickled herring, and Lutefisk. Hearty meat stews and soups like Farikal, Finnbiff, and Sodd are popular too. Try the Gudbrandsdalsost (a brown cheese), Skillingsboller (cinnamon roll), or the Norwegian waffles for a real treat.

This has provided us with an enormous wealth of information on Norway's coastal waters from a sea kayakers point of view, and as well, having operated sea kayak centres in Norway for over 25 years has given us a clear understanding of the needs of sea kayakers paddling this majestic coastline. We have amassed the most knowledge, know-how and experience paddling Norway’s coastal waters, and this is what will enable you to have a safe, fun, hassle-free self-guided sea kayak trip in Norway. Ålesund, Norway’s Art Nouveau City, otherwise describe as Norway’s cutest city is a great starting point for our Sea Kayak & Camp Norway's fjords Journey. The backdrop for our launching site is Ålesund’s southern harbour, which is speckled with green grassy parks, mountainous islands, a skyline of art nouveau interspersed with modern architecture, lazy marinas with pleasure-craft bobbing on glistening waters. Exiting Ålesund’s harbour, a secluded sound leads us out to a unique string of islands running north-east of the city. This intricate archipelago stretches the length of Ellingsøy Fjord and with the sun at your back we aim our kayaks north-east island-hopping our way down Ålesund’s northern fjord. Gliding stealthily around islands laid out like a string of pearls dotted with abandoned farms, quaint cottages, secret meadows, and beacons bearing a real maritime heritage.

Navigating the bridges of Skodje County and Solnor Canal takes us to the entrance of the Grand Fjord which has cut its path through the granite and gneiss mountains of the Sunnmøre Alps, creating a surreal landscape that is both awe-inspiring and breathtaking. Formed like canyons with steep granite walls that begin 400 meters below the sea’s surface and reach 1500 meters above, the fjords of western Norway make us feel infinitesimal in our sea kayaks as we paddle down fjords wrapped in raw natural beauty, snow capped mountains, towering granite walls, thundering waterfalls, mountain ledge farms, flowering fruit trees, and quaint villages tucked into small protective bays.

Rounding the point at Matvik, marks the entrance to the world’s most photographed fjord, Geiranger Fjord. The rugged beauty is astounding as we glide through the jade green waters, feeling small under the towering granite walls that stretch 1500 m above, we paddle towards the end of the fjord past rushing waterfalls and historic mountain ledge farms perched precariously high; making the final turn, the hamlet of Geiranger rises in front of us marking our journeys end.

Jonathan’s philosophy: “Spending time outdoors having fun, doing physical exercise with good people, good food and tasty refreshments”. Every trip I design, and lead have this tenet!

We chose the Lofoten Islands as the venue for Norway’s first-ever guided sea kayak trip back in the late 1990s. These majestic islands with their surreal location were the perfect place to introduce Norway to adventure travelers; now over 25 years later, our iconic Lofoten Islands sea kayak expedition has become a classic in international sea kayaking destinations; a highly ranked bucket list trip.

Kayak More Tomorrow’s sea kayak specialists were the first to design and lead commercial sea kayak trips in the Lofoten Islands; no one knows these waterways better than us. We are without a doubt the sea kayak tour company with the most guiding days amongst these arctic islands.

KMT’s Iconic Lofoten Islands itinerary has been “copied” by many, but no one has been able to get it just right, so do yourself a favor and paddle with Lofoten’s best sea kayak tour company, Kayak More Tomorrow.

What do people say about Kayak More Tomorrow?

We had high expectations when booking our self-guided kayaking trip through the fjords of Norway, and thanks to Jonathan’s expert guidance, the experience absolutely exceeded them ! Before setting off, Jonathan gave us a detailed and thorough briefing, covering everything from route planning to how to handle the elements in the fjords. His deep knowledge and passion for the area gave us the confidence to embark on what truly became the adventure of a lifetime. We paddled through breathtaking landscapes, from remote islands to dramatic cliffs. Along the way, we were lucky to spot porpoises, sea eagles, and even orcas ! If you’re considering this trip, look no further, you won’t regret this lifetime experience :)

We had a wonderful self-guided 5 day trip. Jonathan‘s support before and during the trip was precious and assured good preparation and feeling safe during the tour. The equipment is neat and the region stunning for kayaking. Early August we have not seen any anyone on the first 4 days and only Geiranger fjord is busy. The campsites are empty with a beautiful view. In case of heavy rain, a few options for a night in a cabin (shower) exist. The home base of the company is in Ålesund. While drop-ins and pickups are possible at many places, this might help you with your planning. Highly recommend to book with this company!!

The planning took us 3 years. Stephan and me (both 66 Y.) finally started the kayak trip with Jon as our guide in July 2023! We were paddling in a double kayak, took all with us as tent, sleeping bags, mats, cloth, cooking stuff, water etc., all in all for 6 days. It was already the third try, because 2 years before I went ill, same last year. In fear of getting ill again I was prepared to stop it, if it shouldn’t work again. Then when we were on the tour, we had a great time on the fjords with wind and waves and delicious meals in nature, because Jon is an excellent cook. We saw boots passing, paddled along fish farms and overwhelming mountains. Our campsites were islands with nobody on there and farms above the fjords with rich cherry trees, blueberries and raspberries, like a paradise. We paddled with joy and fear, Jon was a trustful partner as a guide and I learned to overcome my fears of big waves, distances, wind, tide and the huge cruise liner boots. He accompanied us with calm and serenity. For me, someone who works sitting down all day it was the best thing I could do in the last years. We finished it in only 5 days and it was a great feeling to reach Geiranger ! I felt like new born and was glad that we made it! To be back on work everything went easy. Thank you, Jon, for your patience.

Many thanks to my guide Jonathan for an awesome 5-day trip form Ålesund to Geiranger. He handled all the kayaking and camping aspects in a perfect way. Although I had very limited kayaking experience, Jonathan ensured by careful planning considering tides and weather that I could manage difficult sections and enjoy kayaking and the beautiful scenery every day. Also camp life got its due. Jonathan managed to provide diverse and very good (vegetarian) food during the whole trip. The beautiful afternoons (we were very lucky with the weather) were spent either on the beach or after a short hike high above the fjord with impressive views and interesting conversations. I learned a lot about Norway, seamanship and the art of guiding. I highly recommend this trip!

Details and contact before the trip were excellent and arrangements to meet our guide were simple. The trip itself was fantastic and our guide Jon was super friendly. Took the tour at our own pace as my husband hadn't kayaked before. Really enjoyed the lunch and wine was very much appreciated as it was our honeymoon. Would recommend without hesitation.

A great tour with a great guide. Jonathan was knowledgable of his sea kayaking and the history of our surroundings. There were 4 of us and weather was rainy and he had given us option of kayaking more vs the hike. We chose to kayak more and the views were amazing despite the weather. we stopped for a bathroom break and he had oatmeal cookies for us. At the end of our excursion he had lunch which was reindeer meat sandwiches, apples, norwegian chocolate, coffee and tea. Food was amazing. he then took us for a car ride through old Alesund and dropped us off at a famous landmark where you climb over 400 steps to this amazing view of the Fiords and town below. Truly worth doing this excursion if in town. Cruise ship doesn't offer this. Highly recommend!!!!!!

The views are spectacular, hard not to enjoy.

This bike and bike tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Norway. My husband and I only had 2 days in Ålesund, and I am so glad we booked this tour. We got to see much more of the beautiful town of Ålesund than we would have on our own, and Jon told us about the history and culture along the way. He also took a lot of great pictures for us while we made our tour, and we had delicious snacks provided mid-way through. This company was very professional throughout the entire booking process and tour. Jon was right on time and picked us up at our accommodation to take us to our equipment. I am sure that no matter which activity you choose with this company, you will be in for an amazing day! If we come back to Ålesund, we will certainly be booking with them again.

We had a very strong head wind that day, took us over 2 hours to reach the take-out, but Max pulled us in to a couple secluded spots to rest and make sure we were OK. Most of the way you are pretty close to shore in case something did happen, but we all felt very safe. Their equipment is good, no one got wet except in the face from the spray of the water. Like others, there is room to bring good hiking shoes, I wish I had known that because I brought shoes that could get wet, and then for the hike wished I had my boots. The hike is up an exposed ridge to the top of a commanding view of the town, harbor, and surroundings - very beautiful. Again, we had bad wind the day we went, and it was a little buffeting at the top, but well worth it. Considering your options of things to do with only a few hours in Alesund, this trip was perfect for us and we would do it again!

Jonathan picked us up at our inn. Max was a fun and entertaining guide who supplied us with fun stories and biscuits (cookies and/or hob nobs). Kayaking was awesome!

I booked this trip as a surprise gift for my wife's 50th birthday....and I'm relieved to say she loved it. We had good communication all the way from booking on line to being picked up from our Hotel to be be driven to our launching site. Max was our guide. We had good instruction but in a very relaxed manner. My wife sat in the front of the kayak giving me instructions on the direction we should be going .... there is a lot going for being in a single handed kayak! We were extremely lucky in seeing an Eagle fly across one of the tiny Islands. We landed close to Sugar Summit. The walk is worth the stunning view of the fjords and seeing Alesund from a different angle. This a must do tour if you want to enjoy the Norwegian experience. Thanks guys. Hopefully the pictures are attached and you can see Sugar Summit in the background

In July, I started my 10 day trip in Norway on a customized 48 hour kayak and camping trip with KMT from Alesund to Saebo. I found KMT on TripAdvisor, read their reviews and looked no further. My experience from start to finish exceeded my expectations. I have kayaked with small-group guided tours in various places and am comfortable kayaking but certainly am no expert so I appreciate a guide to ensure my comfort and safety. Jonathan recommended a customized trip. I was thrilled with the itinerary, which started in Alesund and ended in Saebo, where I started the next part of my trip. The trip information helped me plan easily for what to bring on the trip and where to stay in Alesund. Jonathan made all arrangements at the start and end of the trip so easy for me. Max was a great guide. I felt comfortable and confident with Max's ability and care to manage every aspect of our trip with great results. Max was skillful, knowledgeable, personable and a great cook! It was an absolute pleasure kayaking with Max in such a beautiful setting. If you are thinking of paddling in the Alesund area, please do not hesitate to book a trip through KMT.

Great paddling with Max around Ålesund. The team has been super nice to suggest postponing the schedule when we were facing a rainy morning. The kids (9, 11, 13) loved it. Worth doing.

Jonathan picked us up at the cruise terminal and after a very short drive we met Max, our tour guide. It was just my wife and I so very personalized tour. We did a morning ride through town and around an island. Max would stop and talk about what we were seeing at various intervals. After about 2 hours we went back to where we started, had some tea and sandwiches and then onto the kayaks. Paddled around for close to 3 hours (they would have let us go longer but we were tired). Great tour great tour guide, absolutely worth every penny! Highlight of our 2 week cruise.

Fabulous Family Day! I conversed with KMT months before we went on the Norwegian Jade. They were very responsive and easy to communicate with. We booked the full day bike and kayak tour for our family of 6. Our first port was Alesund and the day was perfect. We cycled with Max through the streets of Alesund learning about some history. (There are many steeps hills - so I recommend your group be in good physical shape or have the tour modified a bit). It was breathtaking scenery. We were then met by Jonathon at the banks of a fjord and had a picnic lunch before kayaking. Max guided us through beautiful waterways. The excursion was a perfect start to our 2 week cruise. We were happy to have physical activity because of our overindulgence on the ship!!!! I highly recommend KMT and this tour.

The first morning we arrived in Norway we biked for 2 hours through the streets of Alesund, had a lovely picnic lunch on the banks of the fjord, and then hopped into 2 double kayaks for a 2 hour custom designed trip from Alesund out to the house where we were staying! Max was a competent and confident leader. Jonathan (the manager) picked us up at our house and met us with the picnic. Both men were personable, interesting, and confidence inspiring. It was a perfect beginning to a journey through Norway for us. Make a reservation as soon as possible so you get a spot. It is worth the money. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

We communicated with KMT by email ahead of our trip. They were responsive and very helpful. We arrived on the NCL Jade for the day. KMT was waiting for us exactly where they said they’d be at the time they said. From the moment they picked us up until the end of the tour, we loved every moment. We were a group of 7 which included a 6 and 8 year old. KMT had all the supplies we needed - no matter how big or small, they thought of everything. They were caring and made sure we had an amazing experience. I highly recommend them. Our guide Max was fantastic and patient.

We just returned from a a morning paddle with Max. We saw herons, oyster catchers and other seabirds as we paddled around some of the islands around Alesund. We then entered the town itself and viewed the art nouveau buildings before paddling around the boats and buildings related to the fishing trade. As well as being a friendly and personable guide, Max was very knowledgeable about the wildlife, history and geography of the area. All equipment was provided for the trip; was of good quality and well maintained. We really appreciated that the trip went ahead with just the two of us. Efficient and prompt pick up and return. Highly recommend this company!

We had a small group (8 people) that kayaked to the boat museum, islands across the channels, by the bonfire site, and back. Our tour lasted around four hours. The weather was perfect, we had a beautiful day! Our guide was great, the equipment was in good shape. Lovely day!

We had a great full day out last week with Max as our guide. There were a party of 6 of us and the trip was run just for us. Despite quite a lot of information e-mailed to us before the trip I still didn't feel entirely sure exactly what was going to happen on our trip! In the event we were met off our cruise ship and driven about 15 minutes to a small beach area just outside of the town. There we got into the kayaks. None of us had really kayaked before! All equipment was provided, I wore trainers and waterproof jacket, feet did not get wet! We needed to take all we wanted for the day with us in the kayak, as we were heading to the base of the trail, walking from there and then kayaking back. There are waterproof compartments on the kayak and here i stored my walking boots and a couple of spare layers, and a towel, which was good to have. Max reliably informed us that the kayaks are very stable and no-one ever tipped over. We kayaked for about 1.5 hours in the fjord to the base of the trail, it was quite pretty, but we could see the town and the cruise ship most of the time, it was not really a 'wilderness' experience! We pulled the kayaks onto the shore and Max produced a lovely sandwich lunch with coffee and chocolate. We then walked up to Sugar Hill Summit. Again not really away from it all...obviously a very popular local walk, but absolutely great views from the top and well worth it. You then come back along the same path. At the top Max came up trumps again with a hot fruit tea and biscuits, he was very well organised with tissues, wipes etc. The beginning of the trail would be hard to find without local knowledge as is hidden in a small housing estate. We kayaked back much the same way as we had come. I'm not sure when the trip is referred to as Art Nouveau?, as we did not pass through the buildings of the town at all. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day. The whole trip took over 6 hours, we were quite tired but managed fine, considering not really kayaked before arms were ok the next day! Expensive ( everything in Norway is...) but I would recommend.

My adult sister and I were on the Hurtigruten cruise (highly recommend) north. Although we missed the trip down the fjord (another sister did it and a hike and loved both!) we got off the boat in the morning and stayed in Alesund until the ship came back in the evening. This allowed my sister and me time to have our 2 1/2 hour kayak adventure, and time to roam the city and climb Mt. Aksla. We got the kayak idea from an episode of The Amazing Race, and were very glad that we took the time to see and learn about Alesund from the water. Jonathan (hope I got his name right) was an informative guide. We were fairly inexperienced kayakers and he didn't try to push us beyond what we could do. If you are in Alesund and have time, add a kayak trip to your plans.

This was a highlight of my stay in Alesund. I decided to do it on a whim and just walked in and booked it (though it was coming to the end of the season). I had a great time and it was lovely to chat to my instructor/guide the whole way round. He gave me lots of knowledge on the area and told me how to paddle. I thoroughly recommend this.

A little about the members of this review: my wife and our friend are skilled sea kayakers, and I'm a sea kayak instructor (ACA L3 Coastal). I work for a large, US-based guide service and am the lead instructor on dozens of programs during the spring, summer, and autumn. My wife, a friend, and I were to be visiting Ålesund for our birthdays. I contacted KMT well ahead of time to reserve three spots on their Art Nuveau City paddle (2.5 hours). They responded quickly, and gave us necessary information regarding the tour well in advance. They also checked in with us as a reminder as the tour date approached. When we arrived, we found a clean and organized operation. Our guide - Max - was polite, organized, and well-prepared for our day. We were quickly outfitted for the day with single-seat sea kayaks, paddles, floatation devices, and spray skirts, and were on the water within 30 minutes of our arrival. Max had a "usual" tour that he did, but quickly realized we could back up our skills and was able to adjust accordingly. We ended up doing what was usually a ~4-hour tour in 2.5 hours, seeing the amazing vistas and shoreline outside of the normal routine. Max was extremely professional. The three of us are more than capable of doing what we did on our own, but Max provided the local knowledge and expertise we lacked - all with a smile, and a weather-eye for safety. KMT also rents bicycles - and the next day, my wife and I took advantage: renting bikes, and riding through Ålesund and along a lovely path to reach Sukkertoppen - a must-do, half-day hike. The shop outfitted us with all the bicycle gear we needed, and gave us excellent directions; frankly, the directions were superior to Google Maps, as we got to ride along the coast and not next to the main road. All in all, from a personal and professional standpoint: I wholeheartedly recommend Kayak More Tomorrow as a worthwhile stop on your Norwegian adventure.

This is an excellent trip and I recommend it to anyone who likes to kayak or thinks they would like to try. It is a great way to see the city and the guide/owner provides an interesting overview of the city and it's history. The folks at Kayak More Tomorrow are lovely people and go out of their way to make it a good experience.

No entraña ninguna dificultad física. Intentar hacerlo en un día soleado.

We rented kayaks for five days - kayaking Ålesund-Geiranger. Though we encountered some challenges at arrival (missing luggage at the airport) KMT helped us out with all necessary gear we missed as well as great advice for camp sites and route choice. They picked us up in Geiranger after five days and drove us back to Ålesund were we had a beer and discussed our trip. Great customer service!

We were on a cruise and booked this excursion on our own over the web way before departing from home. We had immediate feedback from KMT and the booking was easy. This was a really fun paddling trip with Anthony, he is a great guide. We came back in after 2 hours and the owner said keep on going so we paddled on our own for another hour, since Anthony had another trip. KMT has great customer service and I would recommend anyone in Alesund take this trip.

We had a great time. Antony was our guide. He was informative and supportive. This was only our second time to Kayak and we went pretty far. We made it and had fun. I am 66 and my wife 65. We are fairly active and healthy for our age. We did the 4 1/2 hour, with lunch, tour. We booked it on our own and it was cheaper than the 3 hour excursion from Holland America. The equipment was good and the operation very well managed. They are only about 3 blocks from the cruise dock. We had great weather which was nice. It was about 64F that day and little wind. I understand that is not the norm.

We had a tremendous day with Kayak More Tomorrow. It was just is and one other couple plus the two guides from the company. We for started a bit late, but everything was smooth after that. The trip comes with all the supplies you might want (correct layers and a blanket/seal for the kayak so you don't get wet), a lovely lunch you eat just before the hike and even tea at the top of the hike. The views are to die for and it's just all so pleasant. We got lucky as it was there Constitution day so we go to see many costumes. The trip is also the right amount of exercise for the day.

We made two cruise stops in Alesund...first visit we kayaked with owner, Johnathan...super way to tour the local waterways and see the city from a "water" prospective. Second visit we did the all-day bike tour with Rudy. E-bikes are an option and we LOVED them, made the hilly terrain EASY! Ana, the Office Manager, made sure we well taken care of and even assisted with a tour booking in Olden. This is a QUALITY operation with latest in equipment...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Jonathan, Anna, Anthony & Max all very professional - first safety briefing and how to kayak (no previous experience necessary) then get your gear and meet on dock outside shop. Paddle away in ones or twos with or without a spray sheet all with guidance and commentary en route so very safe and informative. They can lend you a dry bag for your cameras and mobiles. Suggest 2-3 hours is more than enough especially if you have not kayaked before. Also fancy a bike ride then they also offer Scott Mountain Bike Tours - check out brand new Scott Electric Bikes - expensive but awesome! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A friend and I rented a kayak for a short time to paddle around the town. The paddling was fantastic (helped by beautiful weather) and we saw the town from a very different angle. We had contacted the staff beforehand but had not booked anything. We got off our cruise ship and were at the shop in a couple of minutes. The staff did a thorough safety briefing and headed off into the nice calm 'harbour' area. Having got our confidence we headed out into the wider archipeligo. It was great value (compared to cruise trip prices), You can hire by the hour or do a guided journey. Julia(?) was wonderfully helpful and enthusiastic. I couldn't recommend this highly enough, if this is your sort off thing.

As an Ålesunder born-and-bred, I wanted to show my British friends my city at its best - Kayaking (with this company) was a great idea! The guys are running it are laid back and very nice (don't be fooled fellow Norwegians - the blonde guy is English) and we ended up kayaking around the city and even I got to see it from a new perspective. Even the prices aren't bad at all, couldn't recommend them more if you want a different experience when visiting Ålesund! :)

We had a wonderful time kayaking with Julia. We had a pleasant walk from the cruise ship for half an hour to where Geirangerfjordservice was - a delightful little caravan! Despite my husband and I being complete novices and our two teenage boys being advanced, Julia managed to keep everyone happy. A father and son kept deliberately dropping behind to hold everyone up as later it was obvious they could kayak perfectly well but Julia even handled this well, despite us not being able to kayak past the Seven Sisters waterfall because of the now lack of time. Julia told us some very interesting facts about Norway and the area and it was the best two hours of our whole holiday. We would certainly love to do it again. It was also very reasonably priced - about half the price of the extortionate cruise excursions on offer from Holland America Line.

My husband and I didn't like the excursion options from our cruise ship, so we took to the internet to find something better and found Kayak More Tomorrow. We knew that the weather would be iffy but wanted to take the archipelago tour of Alesund. It was amazing! The trip was about 5 hours total. Sceril (hope I spelled his name right!) was a fabulous guide and provided a lot of information about Alesund. It rained steadily on us for a good part of the trip, but that didn't make any difference to us. We came prepared with waterproof pants and jackets and just went with it. Lunch was provided and the sandwiches were really good! This was the highlight of our Norway cruise and was the most interesting way to see and learn about Alesund.

We walked past the shop and decided we wanted to undertake a short kayak. I fully expected us to be confined to the harbour and just paddling round for an hour. The man in the shop showed us the route round Alesund which which would take us an hour. It was a fantastic experience, the scenery was beautiful and it was an hour at a very leisurely pace. I would recommend this to anyone who has an hour (or more) free when visiting Alesund.

We had 7 days of kayaking fro Gerainger to Oye - I can only speak highly of Jonathan and Alex with their advice, friendliness and above all the best service possible. Our actual kayaking was relaxing and peaceful, we had no issues with the gear and the meeting arrangements with the staff. Of the many countries that we have rented kayaks, this was the most professional outfit - highly recommended.

Just back from a 5 day kayaking with a friend. We took the complete outfitting option, with a double kayak, including food (we fished our own food on two occasions), and off we went on our own (no guide). Strong storm on the first day, which made landing on the first highland for the night an adventure on itself, bugs, for sickness on Wednesday and very strong headwind on Thursday forcing us to change our plans on the spot and aim for a different Fjord... and despite all that it was a very very very good experience ! Thanks to the very professional and friendly team at KMT all the material was perfect and safe, and all the organization went smoothly. It does look a little expensive at first, but at the end taking into account the cost of living and doing business in Norway it was worth every cent. Only very small criticism on the material; would be a great improvement to change the tent model you provide. The one we had does not have a double layer isolating from the outside, as a consequence when it rains a simple touch on the tissue makes you wet immediately, which tend to happens a lot when you have two big guys sleeping inside :-)

We had a great experience kayaking as a group of 6 in July 2016. Easy to arrange and we had a really great guide for the trip which lasted the full 2 hours. During that time we had an excellent session along the estuary at a relaxed pace enjoying the beautiful scenery. It was all topped off with a beautiful double rainbow and seeing dolphins swimming close by. Highly recommended.

We booked this activity as we were travelling on P&O Britannia on a 7 Day cruise, and none of their excursions were appealing to us. So glad we did. We paid for the trip in advance, and had plenty of communication, emails and maps directing us to the offices, which are around a 5 minute walk from the cruise terminal. Once there, our guide for the day, Alan, gave us a quick induction, kitted us out with life jackets, got us in the kayaks, and we were off. It was a great day, we were out for about 5 hours at a nice easy pace. Alan was a great guy, didn't rush us, didn't try to get us to speed up, which was welcome as neither me or my wife who are both the wrong side of 50 have done this before and it can get tiring on the arms....! We were in dual kayaks and the most difficult bit was trying to keep feet on the pedals which steered the rudder. Easy enough to get the hang of though. After a couple of hours we stopped and had a nice lunch of sandwiches, biscuits and coffee, prepared by Alan. We stopped on a little island And the views were brilliant. After about an hour, we were off again making it back to the ship in plenty of time. In short, this was a great trip if you are active enough. A bit strenuous, a bit of hard work, but very enjoyable and thoroughly recommended. Thanks Alan for a great day & if we are ever in Alesund again, we will do this again.

We showed up and were welcomed by two great guides, Zoe and Abel who made sure we had a great day (with great sandwiches for lunch and great conversation to boot ;) My dad's English is not the best but they were patient with him and took the time to explain things again when needed. It was our first time kayakking and because of this great first experience it will certainly not be our last! Thank you Zoe and Abel!

We went on a "spur of the moment" kayak around Alesund on a weekday morning. I had written them before and asked about short guided tours and was disappointed in the response which was no more than a referral to the website which listed day long trips. However, when walking to dinner on our arrival to Alesund, we walked by the Kayak more tomorrow office on the way to dinner and walked in to inquire again about shorter tours for the morrow. It was no problem in person, and we showed up in the morning for a 2 hour tour. The two guides "Zulu" and "Alpha" were both knowledgeable and personable. We had hoped to kayak to some islands offshore, but unexpected cruise ship arrivals and wave action prevented us from doing this. However, we had a very nice paddle around the main Alesund area and we enjoyed the exercise and the conversation.

To start: Johathan (owner – I think) had great communication via email. I mentioned that we were on a cruise, and would prefer not to miss the boat out of port. He made it a point to eliminate my concern. They send you a ton of documents, maps, all the info to make you feel comfortable about finding the place and what to bring and wear etc. We arrived and met Zoe (sorry if I spelled it wrong) she was super friendly and helpful. We filled out waivers, she showed us the restroom, answered our questions. We asked if there was a place to buy some water because we forgot to bring some. She offered to fill up some bottles for us, so we wouldn’t have to go buy any. Haven’t experienced that before! Alex showed up a few minutes later and gave us some direction on what we would be doing. Showed us on a map where we be going, etc. I was extremely impressed with the organization from Zoe and Alex and we had not even left the shop yet. Before leaving, Alex and Zoe gave us dry bags for anything we wanted to bring, they kept our backpack in the shop while we were gone, Alex even dressed me with the life jacket and bib. At one point, my brother n law leaned over to me and even mentioned, these guys are doing a really good job! And he’s hard to impress. We left the shop headed to the water with our gear where we got in the kayak, brief overview of what to do and not to do. No long boring safety speech. They explained the basics and we were on our way. I expected to have a group of people with us, Nope it was Alex and Zoe – 2 guides and the 4 of us. Um...awesome private tour! Our adventure begin, we went across the fjord to a small island that had the friendliest goats (like friendly as dogs), had a picnic, where Alex made us lunch. And I’m talking homemade lunch, not prepackaged box lunches. He was very conscious to give my wife a vegetarian meal as she requested when we booked. He offered to make us hot chocolate, coffee, tea, etc. I am still not sure where he had this stuff stored on his kayak, because he had everything, he may have even had a espresso maker in dry bag. We stayed on the island for little bit, explored it, played with the goats, ate lunch. Then went through some small islands back to the other side of the fjord, where we followed the coast line back to the dock. (4-5 hours) The whole journey was well planned and was something we could have never experienced on land, or even from the cruise ship. Alex and Zoe never rushed us, we would stop occasionally to rest and so that Alex could explain history and other things about Alesund. One of the best things about Alex and Zoe is that they know how to communicate, everyone has different personalities, some people are reserved, some care freeing, but Alex and Zoe picked up on the personalities we had and related as if I were talking to my friends. That’s a very good skill to have. There are a number of tours you can choose from, I am sure they are all great, would love to come back and do a full day tour, in the future. I can’t say enough about Kayak More Tomorrow and Alex and Zoe. Had to be one of the best excursions I have ever been on. From start to finish. So professional, accommodating, helpful, friendly, and the list goes on. If you read this Alex and Zoe, thank you so much for being amazing kayak guides and pretty awesome people in general also! From what Alex mentions, Zoe is totally willing to tow your kayak if you get tired and don’t want to paddle. haha. Thanks again guys! John – (Florida people)

We like active vacations so we are always looking for hiking, kayaking, biking etc. This was a great tour of the Alesund harbor with just the right balance of physical challenge and enjoyment, plus our guide was delightful!

While planning our recent Disney cruise to Norway we needed a tour on which we could include our active grandsons who are aged 7 & 9. Disney required them to be 12 for their shore excursions which were quite pricey anyway. We found KMT based in Alesund and couldn't have been happier with our trip. Zoe and Abel were expert guides who were extremely patient with the kids as well as adults. Although in my 60s, I had never kayaked before but had an excellent experience. We chose the farm tour which included hiking up a fjord to an old farm. It was challenging, but we had hiked to Pulpit Rock in Stavangar 2 days before and this was not as difficult as that. KMT doesn't have a storefront in Geiranger, but the village is small so we didn't have any trouble finding them along the shore. Their yellow kayaks are easy to spot. It all took longer than we thought, but had no trouble making it back to the ship with time to spare. We couldn't have been happier with this experience. Read denise1609's review for more detail; our experience was similar with different guides and only the first farm.

We had an excellent time with Jonathan and Zoe and 2 others with our rather large group (about 30) in double canoes. They were all helpful with instructions and expectations. The weather was perfect and we had a fabulous experience. I would recommend this activity for any adventurous souls. The view along the coast was beautiful and the guides were knowledgeable about the town.

A friend and I just got back from a 3 day outfitting tandem kayak trip around the Oksenøya island near Alesund and we can only conclude that this was one of the best adventure trips we have had so far. The views were stunning and the beauty of the snowy mountain tops along the fjords unparalleled. That said, none of this would have been possible without the great help from the guys at Kayak More Tomorrow. The kayak and additional outfitting gear we were equipped with was all in mint condition. Upon departure and arrival the owner Jonathan and the rest of the staff were very helpful, both in giving us all the essential information before our trip as well as hearing in enthusiastically to all our experiences upon our return. Looking back we truly had and amazing time and are keen coming back soon. I would certainly recommend signing up for a guided trip with Kayak More Tomorrow!

During a cruise to Norway my husband and I wanted to explore Geirangerfjorden by kayak but didn’t want to be in one of the big groups often associated with the kayaking excursions offered by the cruise line, so we decided to book a private tour with Kayak More Tomorrow. As we were only going to be in Geiranger for one day we wanted to see as much as possible. KMT were happy to provide us with a customised itinerary which allowed us to visit two hilltop farms. As soon as our ship docked (7:30am) our guide for the day, Matt, was there to greet us, get us kitted out with life jackets etc. he then helped us into the kayak and got us out on the water. Neither of us had been kayaking before but after only a few minutes of instruction from Matt we found the double-kayak easy to handle and incredibly stable. We quickly discovered that a kayak has to be the best possible mode of transport from which to experience the fjord, glass-like water with breathtakingly beautiful views. After a paddle down to the Seven Sisters waterfall we tied up our kayaks at the base of the fjord and climbed 250 meters (about 45 minutes) to the Knivsfla farm situated on the side of the fjord. Following a short break at the top for a quick snack and some photos it was time to get back into the kayaks and paddle across the fjord to climb another 250 meters up a slightly easier path to Skagefla situated opposite the Seven Sisters where the three of us had a tasty lunch provided by KMT and relaxed before heading back to the kayaks for the paddle back. Needless to say the views from the farms are stunning and although the climbs were probably one of the most strenuous things we’ve ever done, it was totally worth it to experience this unique, unspoilt landscape. We arrived back at the dock (3:30pm) in good time for the ship’s departure, so this is a brilliant way to ensure you maximise your time in Geiranger. All this was made even better by our ozzy guide Matt who has a great sense of humour, the patience of a saint and what can only be described as a superhuman ability to climb steep paths while fully-loaded with kit! Thank you Matt (and KMT) for an amazing experience.

My husband and I signed up for a hike and paddle in Geiranger Fjord (day trip). It was unbeievable. We lucked out as it's a bit late in the season so we were the only ones on the trip that day, but I heard they were very busy other days/weeks. Erin brought us on the hike up the Geiranger Fjord wall and back down to the water to meet the kayaks. The hike was hard, but was great exercise and the effort was absolutely worth it. Stunning views of the fjord and realy cool breaks at a couple of very old farms that sit on the edge of the cliff. Very interesting history. Erin had everything taken care of. She had a simpe lunch, perfect for a day hike meal and was an expert hiker. After hiking down to teh kayaks, we met Jonathan (the owner) for a paddle back to the start. Great time. Such a different a great perspective to see the fjord from the water level. Jonathan was very engaging and knowledgeable about some of the stories of the waerfalls etc. Super nice guy. We had such a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat. Plus, they were nice enough to drop the camera my husband left in the life vest pocket off at our hotel. I didn't even know it was missing but was grateful to have it returned. I'd highly recommend signing up for a guided trip with Kayak More Tomorrow!

We were only in Alesund for a day, and wanted to see as much as possible. After climbing up to the viewpoint in the morning, we were exploring the town and passed the Kayak More Tomorrow shop. Popping in on a whim, we hired a kayak, and had a fabulous time paddling around the island. The views were fabulous, and getting up close to the prow of a large cruise ship in the harbour was quite an experience! The man in charge of the shop was very friendly, answered all our questions, and seemed to really care that we had a good time. Highly recommended!

Booked a guided trip for the family. With little to none experience with kayaking the guide Matt got us aquainted with the sport. We had a roundtrip on the fjord and surrounding islands. Great service and very experienced guide Matt, made us want to go kayaking more ;)

Booked a last minute trip with these guys after Active Geiranger cancelled on us at last minute. Turns out AG did us a favor. These guys were fantastic!!! Scenery was beautiful, provided food was surprisingly delicious. The hike up to our picnic spot was very memorable as were the views of 7 sister's waterfall. My kids loved trying to paddle into the spray at the bottom of the falls.

We are a family of 4 ("kids" are 18 and 21). We booked a kayak trip with kayak more tomorrow in Geiranger when we were there on a cruise in June. Our guides for the day were Jonathan, the owner, his daughter Reese, James from Seattle and Matt from Australia. We are from Florida and have kayaked mostly in warm waters and were a little worried about being cold and wet in the fjord. They fitted us with skirts which we slipped over our heads and then attached to the kayak. The skirts kept our lower body warm and dry. Just wore a rain jacket with a hood over a turtle neck or long sleeve shirt and we were fine. The fjord was incredible. Kayaking was not too strenuous although we went further than I thought once we headed back to the ship. Jonathan stopped us several times to tell us about the waterfalls and the history of the area. Our excursion included a hike to skagefla farm. That was a challenge. Getting in and out of the kayaks with the help of James and Matt was easier than I expected. The hike up to the farm was steep and rocky but beautiful. We actually didn't go all the way to the farm but stopped near the top in a little clearing to eat lunch together. There were about 15 of us kayaking that day. I didn't expect lunch so that was a very nice surprise. Salmon and veggie wraps , hot chocolate, cookies and chocolate bars. The view from the top was spectacular. We had expected about a 4.5 hour excursion and this was at least 6. I loved every minute of it. One of the beat excursions we have ever taken. Highly recommend the experience.
