Norway Is Not Just For Cruise Ships
A trip to Norway is the perfect holiday for adventurous explorers who love outdoor activities. Travelers here can enjoy hiking, climbing, and kayaking. There are more than 1,000 fjords along the extensive Norwegian coastline, and cruise ships view only 10 of them. With so much rugged landscape, no one truly knows how long the coastline is! This stunning scenery is perfect for a guided kayak tour. Get off the beaten path with a stay in a “rorbus,” one of the traditional fishermen's lodges. Seafood specialties are typical in Norway, where fishing is a big part of the culture. Look for local dishes like smoked salmon, pickled herring, and Lutefisk. Hearty meat stews and soups like Farikal, Finnbiff, and Sodd are popular too. Try the Gudbrandsdalsost (a brown cheese), Skillingsboller (cinnamon roll), or the Norwegian waffles for a real treat.
